Burnishing of Boron Nitride Coatings
Boron Nitride coatings can be applied and then ‘burnished’ — very lightly polished to a smooth finish after they are dry-to-the-touch …NOT polished “off” but only rubbed lightly to somewhat densify and smooth the coating. This can be done with using a soft cloth of T-shirt or sweatshirt. The smoother surface will often give a very-smooth finish on metal castings or glass parts that contact the burnished coating and can, in some cases, also lead to longer lifetime [more thermal cycles] for the Boron Nitride coatings.
Note that BN-Hardcoat, due to its hard/abrasion-resistant surface, cannot beburnished — whereas other BN coatings can be burnished/polished to allow less sticking and easier release.
