Type Y
Description

Type Y is a relatively-soft, washcoat-type of Yttrium Oxide (Y2O3) coating that provides very-high-purity (99.99% pure) Y2O3 which is usable in vacuum and inert atmospheres to 2000 C (3632 F). This coating should NOT be used in air atmospheres, use Y Aerosol there.

Type YK
Description

Type YK is a relatively-soft, low-viscosity, non-aqueous-based washcoat-type of Yttrium Oxide (Y2O3) coating that provides very-high-purity (99.99% pure) Y2O3 which is usable in vacuum and inert atmospheres to 2000 C (3632 F).   This coating should NOT be used in air atmospheres, use Y-Aerosol there.   Type YK gives minimal outgassing, complete by 350 C (662C).

Z Aerosol
Description

Z Aerosol is a fast-drying, solvent-based, easy-to-use aerosol spray can that allows easy application of Calcia (4%)-Stabilized Zirconium Oxide to most any substrate for use in any atmosphere. Thus, the aerosol-can provides the great properties of ZrO2 in an easy-to-use manner with:

  • moderately-low electrical conductivity; very-low thermal conductivity
  • good high-temperature stability with molten metals, glasses, slags, and salts; inert barrier for reactions

Description

ZYP Coating’s “Z Aerosol-Brushable” is the same formulation that is used in our Z Aerosol spray can … but is in BULK (paint) form, sold by the gallon.  The Z Aerosol Brushable can be applied by brushing, traditional air-spraying means, or dipping. Usable in any environment from room temperature to 1900 C (3450F).   Z-Aerosol Brushable can be diluted with Acetone for somewhat faster drying or with Ethyl Alcohol for somewhat slower drying.

Description

Type ZO-Mod is a moderately-low viscosity, water-based paint that yields a relativel high hardness coating that is 86% Zirconium Oxide [4% CaO Stabilized] after heating >600 C (>1112 F).  Easy-to-use coating that is good for all atmospheres to 1550 C (2822 F).

Type YSZ
Description

Type YSZ yields a well-bonded Zirconium Oxide coating when applied to ceramic and metal substrates and is non-reactive with many solid or molten ceramics and alloys. Type YSZ has good erosion resistance along with a very high use temperature (> 2000 C). Also, the coating is a 98% pure phase with the remainder being Aluminum Oxide. As a barrier layer to prevent reactions, Type YSZ can be used on stacked metal plates to prevent sticking during heat treating.

YAG BondCoat
Description

YAG BondCoat is a water-based, P2O5-bonded (nearly 50 wt.% P2O5) 3Y2O3*5Al2O3 coating.  The phosphate bonding provides erosion resistance from 800-1400 C.  This coating works best on Alumina and ceramic substrates, but also is usable with some moderate expansion metals.

Zypcoat YAG
Description

Zypcoat YAG is a water-based Yttrium Aluminate (YAG, 3Y2O3 *5Al2O3) coating that has very high thermodynamic stability due to its high Yttrium Oxide content of 57 wt.% – and thus is non-reactive with many metals and alloys.  Zypcoat YAG coating has very good chemical and erosion resistance, whether applied to metal or ceramic substrates.  Forming 100% YAG after outgassing at 500-600 C, Zypcoat YAG has a very high upper use temperature (est. 1700 C).  As a barrier layer to prevent reactions, Zypcoat YAG can be used to stop sticking with stacked metal plates during heat treating.  This coating works well on ceramic and metal substrates.

Type A1
Description

Type A1 is a water-based paint that yields a moderately-hard coating that is 100% Aluminum Oxide when heated >600 C (>1112 F).   The coating is typically about 50% dense and has much less hardness than dense Aluminum Oxide … but does provide many of the useful properties of AI2O3 in an easy-to-use paintable form, for all atmospheres to 1800 C (3240 F).

YAG Binder
Description

YAG Binder has a good ability to suspend solids. It yields very refractory 3Y2O3*5Al2O3 as the phase that bonds the ‘filler’ solids added to the binder. The melting point is 1940°C. With a pH-Acidic (3-4) range, this binder can be used with powder solids that are stable in acidic medium. YAG Binder has a long shelf life of over 12 months and is usable in all atmospheres to 1900°C.
