NovaMix LC
Description

NovaMix LC powder made into liquid-paint coating by simply adding water provides a ceramic layer, which is generally unreactive and nonwetting with molten nonferrous metals and alloys.  The coating bonds readily to ceramic, metal, or graphite substrates.  NovaMix LC performs almost as well as our ready-to-use coating equivalent: BN Lubricoat.

Advantages
  • No worries about freezing
  • Economical: shipped as powder, which avoids shipment cost of heavy water-based paint
  • Easily made into paint by the user: add water, and stir or mix until uniform
  • Easily applied after making into liquid-paint: use like housepaint
  • Ease of application: gray during first application for enhanced visibility [Note: turns white after heating to above 700 C in air]
Powder to Paint

This formulation is sold in a sealed plastic bag of powder with the amount to add to 1-gallon of water, and yields approximately 1.4 gallons of paint.

  1. In a clean 2 gallon or larger container, add one gallon of water (3.8 kg/8.3 pounds)
  2. Add the contents of the bag of powder
  3. Secure the lid. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. After shaking, a drill mixer can be used to further blend the paint until uniform.
  4. Clean surfaces to be coated of any oil, dirt, scale, etc.
  5. Apply one or more layers by brush or spray, like ordinary house paint, drying after each layer.
  6. Allow to thoroughly dry before use.  The coated part can now be placed into service.

Levikote ZBN
Description

Levikote ZBN is an oil-based, self-leveling coating that does not skitter as applied onto hot substrates – just levels out to a uniform, lubricating release coating. Usable to 1000 C, Levikote ZBN is useful for reactive alloys/fluxes. Does not dry at room temperature, but provides an adherent/dry/protecting coating circa 200 C (392 F). Resistant/nonsticking/nonwetting with molten nonferrous metals. Whenever a release-coating is desired not to be water-based/solvent-based, the oil-based Levikote ZBN is a good choice.

Cleanlube Grease can be applied at room temperature or to hot surfaces [100-200 C or 212-392F] without skittering. After drying the grease, the lubricant can be used to above 800 C (1472 F). The grease can be removed while wet with ethanol-water, thus easily cleaned off undesired areas.

Key Attributes
  • High use temperature, as grease or dried layer
  • Combined lubricant of Boron Nitride and wax
  • Non-corrosive
  • Easy to apply
  • Easy cleanup
Ideal Use
  • Versatile friction reduction with moving metal parts
  • Very high temperature lubrication

Cleanlube Liquid
Description

Cleanlube Liquid is a easy-to-apply solution containing Boron Nitride (BN) and non-petroleum derived wax.  After application and drying for around 60-90 miinutes, a dry-film-lubricant (DFL) of BN in wax matrix provides lubrication that is water repellent and does not attract particles/grit.  The DFL area can be burnished to a super-smooth finish, if desired.  Use-temperature from room temperature to 40 C is common, but the residual BN coating can be used to above 800 C after the wax evaporates.

Key Attributes
  • Liquid-solution forms dry-film-lubricant (DFL)
  • Dual lubricant of BN/wax for lower friction
  • Does not attract particles/grit
  • Easy-to-use and cleanup
  • Water-repellant after drying
  • Burnishable after drying to a super-smooth finish
  • Uses biodegradable/”carbon neutral” wax
Ideal Use
  • Moving parts like chains/cables/sprockets
  • Lubricating mating surfaces
