Recommendation: -Boron Nitride Transition Plate Coating
T-Kote or BN TPC
T-Kote andTransition Plate Coating TPC (water-based) have been specifically engineered for use with Wagstaff Billet Casters. See Wagstaff info sheet. The TPC coating is pre-diluted to the proper BN content thereby avoiding the variable results often seen when operators attempt to dilute. Also, the BN powder has been highly refined so that even a thin film of paint is highly effective in performance. Also TYPE TPC is tinted pink as a visual aid in application. T-Kote is aqua-blue in color and is specially designed for producing an ultra-smooth finish with a thin coatng-layer.
For initial application of T-Kote and TPC, use a sponge or brush to apply a thin layer and allow to dry thoroughly. For a near mirror-like finish, lightly polish / buff with a soft cloth. For coating maintenance, cool down ideally to below about 170°F and brush, spray or sponge/swab a thin layer onto the transition plate. It is important to keep the coating thin to avoid flaking and to achieve the best performance.
