Recommendation: Releasecoat®, Releasecoat-Blue®
RELEASECOAT® or easy-to-use RELEASECOAT-BLUE® provides unsurpassed Teflon®-like mold release and mirror-like surface finish for permanent-mold/low-pressure-diecasting. RELEASECOAT® is applied over the usual insulating mold coating and touched-up as needed in service. RELEASECOAT® is ideal for low-draft / high-drag regions of molds. Coating Maintenance Guide
Apply a thin coating of RELEASECOAT® over the usually-used mold insulating coating. This is most important, since Boron Nitride is a good thermal conductor. Most often, the RELEASECOAT® is applied by air-spray onto a warm mold.
To maintain, have the operators re-apply (by air-spray onto a warm mold) a thin layer of RELEASECOAT® when sticking / dragging is first observed. RELEASECOAT-BLUE® is often preferred because of its easy-to-see blue color against most insulating coatings used which are white.
