AUTO POUR LADLES

Use Example

Recommendation: Boron Nitride LUBRICOAT® or LUBRICOAT-BLUE®

Boron Nitride LUBRICOAT®  or LUBRICOAT-BLUE® is recommended for this use because of its superior Teflon®-like release properties and is especially good for stainless ladles..   For auto-pour ladles, nonwetting/nonsticking is the property of most importance.  If aluminum skin builds up as it does with traditional coatings, mispours can occur because the shot size is reduced and/or the lip area is obstructed. For non-stainless steel/cast-iron ladles, either of the more-abrasion/corrosion-resistant coatings BN-HARDCOAT® or BN-LUBRICOAT-ZV® [white or "Blue" version] are preferred, since they both are basic/alkaline in pH. The "ZV" is more nonwetting than the "HARDCOAT".

Coating Maintenance Guide

To maintain, pull the ladle from service when the aluminum skin begins to adhere tightly to the ladle and/or when the blue color of LUBRICOAT-BLUE® begins to fade due to the coating wearing away.  Strip the ladle of all old coating and recoat as outlined in the PAINTING INSTRUCTION GUIDE.
