Three Carriers or Vehicles are utilized for our Coatings
- Water-Based: The majority of our coatings use demineralized water and thus are non flammable and dilutable with water --- shipped as "Non-Hazardous".
- Solvent-Based: Aerosol-can coatings are available for the most-popular ‘fillers’ --[including Aluminum Oxide, Boron Nitride, Titanium Nitride, Yttrium Oxide,Zirconium Oxide (Calcia-stabilized)]. Also, specialized materials [like the blackbody Cerium Oxide and Chromium Oxide] and SEG or “White Silk” are offered. Additonally, “AER-BRUSHABLE” versions are the ‘bulk’ paint versions that are the same formulation as used in the aerosol-can ones. One solvent-based paste, BNA Paste, is produced. The solvent-based coatings can be diluted with ethyl alcohol or acetone. They are shipped as “Hazardous” due to the flammability of the carrier/vehicle composition.
- Oil-Based: Since some applications do not need water [due to its skittering on hot surfaces] and also require non-flammability such that solvent-based coatings are not applicable, one oil-based coating, TPC-LL, is offered. Of course, it never dries at room temperature and is designed to dry when applied to a hot (around 80-150 C or so) surface. Diluting can be done with acetone, methylethylketone (MEK), mineral spirits, or ethyl alcohol. The TPC-LL is shipped “Non-Hazardous”.
