Binders

Our binders allow Researchers to produce their own high-temperature coating by just adding the powder of choice

BNSL Binder
The BNSL Binder is one of our most versatile suspension agent/binder liquids. It utilizes an alcohol-based binder liquid – the binder that is used with ZYP Coatings’ aerosol sprays. BNSL Binder produces moderate hardness coatings with moderate water resistance. The binder also has a moderate ability to suspend solids and generally produces low to medium viscosity coatings with most refractory powders. With its non-aqueous binder liquid, BNSL Binder is generally not very reactive to materials, so that most any powder can be used with it.

Gel-P Binder
The Gel-P Binder is a water-alcohol-based binder liquid that uniquely produces high hardness coatings (on heating to its 350 C curing temperature for around five minutes) with relatively high water resistance, while also having a uniquely high ability to suspend solids (can suspend relatively high-density powders).

HPC Binder
The HPC Binder is a water-based binder liquid that is used for suspending many materials. Coatings produced with this binder liquid have relatively low hardness on drying and can be easily washed back off if re-wetted (i.e., have low water resistance) until they are heated to the outgassing temperature of 150 C (where water is the only outgassing product). The binder has a moderate ability to suspend solids and generally produces medium viscosity coatings with most refractory powders.

LK Binder
When powders are added to this binder liquid, a water-insoluble coating results.  Coatings produced by addition of powders to this binder liquid have moderately good hardness on drying and have high water-resistance, being nearly completely water-insoluble on thorough drying. Outgassing is minimal and essentially complete by a temperature of 150 C.

LRC Binder
The LRC Binder is a very versatile water-based binder liquid. Coatings produced with this binder liquid typically have low hardness on drying and can be easily washed back off if re-wetted (i.e., have low water resistance). The binder has a high ability to suspend solids (can suspend relatively high-density powders) and generally produces high to medium viscosity coatings with most materials.

YK Binder/Thinner
The YK Binder is a non-aqueous-based binder liquid that is used for washcoatings such as yttria. The term “washcoating” is indicative of a low hardness coating similar to a whitewash house paint. Thus, coatings produced with this binder liquid will always have low hardness on drying and have low water resistance. The binder also has a relatively low ability to suspend solids and generally produces low viscosity coatings with most refractory powders. The liquid carrier being a mixture of ethyl alcohol and ethyl acetoacetate, this binder/suspension agent is generally not very reactive to most materials, including water-reactive materials.  ***Note-contains NO yttrium oxide.

YZ Binder/Thinner
The YZ Binder is the water-based binder liquid that is used for typical yttria or zirconia washcoatings. The term “washcoating” is indicative of a low hardness coating similar to a whitewash house paint. Thus, coatings produced with this binder liquid will always have low hardness on drying and can be easily washed back off if re-wetted (i.e., have low water resistance). The binder also has a relatively low ability to suspend solids and generally produces medium to low viscosity coatings with most refractory powders.  ***Note-contains NO yttrium oxide.

Zap Binder
The ZAP Binder is a water-alcohol-based binder liquid. ZAP Binder produces high hardness coatings (on heating to its 350 C curing temperature for around five minutes) with relatively high water resistance. The binder has a low ability to suspend solids and generally produces low viscosity coatings with most refractory powders.
