We will be happy to answer any questions that you have about our products.
This page will help answer your questions about the most common
occurrences that happen.
Most commonly reported coating defect is flaking due to:
a. Inadequate surface cleaning prior to coating Solution: Clean the surface of all oil, dirt, dust, etc. prior to applying the paint.
b. Too thick of a coating Solution: As a rule of thumb, always apply the thinnest coating: a little is good; a lot is not good. c. Heating to use-temperature prior to thoroughly drying
Solution: Dry the painted coating completely before placing into a use-environment/hot-furnace.
d. Coating over another type of coating such as bone ash or red mud. Solution: Use Z-PRIMERCOAT to seal in any residual bone-ash/red-mud.
Also common is blistering due to:
a. Heating prior to thoroughly drying Solution: Dry the painted coating completely before placing into a use-environment/hot-furnace.
b. Brushing onto a hot surface above about 170 F. Solution: Cool the substrate until the brush does not 'stick' and the paint goes onto the surface smoothly. A surface at 100-150 F (40-60 C) often is good for brush application.
