For Molten Aluminum & Magnesium (as well as other nonferrous metals), Their Alloys and Drosses
ACTS LIKE A TEFLON® COATING WITH MOLTEN ALUMINUM AND MAGNESIUM
Totally Non-Wetting to Molten Metals
Boron Nitride Lubricoat® is a paint that, when applied to metal, ceramic or graphite as a thin economical layer, will produce a surface to which molten aluminum, magnesium and their alloys and drosses will neither stick nor adhere.

* BN Releasecoat®
When exceptionally good release and good economy are required (such as for low-draft, high-drag areas of permanent molds), BN Releasecoat® is the solution. Simply air-spray onto the problem areas of either a hot or cold mold that has been previously coated with a good quality mold coating – for excellent release and cosmetic surface finishes. pH = Neutral, like tap-water. Note that this coating is the SOFTEST boron nitride coating offered by ZYP Coatings
* BN Lubricoat®
The best general-use paint that yields the maximum Teflon®-like non-stick, non-wetting behavior to molten metals. Use this coating for most all applications. Our standard/original Boron Nitride Lubricoat® yields a relatively soft, as-dried coating. pH = Acidic, like lemon juice.
* BN Lubricoat® Paste
The PASTE version of our BN Lubricoat® is offered for when thick layers are
Desired … so that it can be applied by trowel, brush, or other tool as desired, still yielding a relatively soft, thick, as-dried coating. pH = Acidic, like lemon juice.
* BN Lubricoat® ZS
When a coating is desired to be very-dilutable and still have good adherence and
Form a soft, as-dried coating, the BN Lubricoat® ZS is an alternative to our standard/original BN Lubricoat®. pH = Acidic, like lemon juice.
* BN Lubricoat® ZV
This relatively-hard, highly-dilutable coating provides non-wetting with molten non-ferrous metals. Additionally, unlike the prior LUBRICOAT® paints, pH = Basic/alkalin, like most housepaints … thus is ideal for use of plain-carbon steel or cast iron.
* BN Hardcoat®
The most unique of our BN coatings, BN Hardcoat® is the only truly abrasion-resistant boron nitride coating available. The BN Hardcoat® offers excellent wear and erosion resistance to molten metals as well as improved paintability by brush application, especially to metal surfaces. BN Hardcoat®, however, yields somewhat reduced non-wetting, non-sticking behavior so its use should be reserved for high wear and erosive applications.
In the order listed from BN-Releasecoat to BN-Hardcoat, the characteristics of Non-Wetting and Lubricity are much higher for the Releasecoat and Lubricoat paints and decrease with the Hardcoat … whereas the Wear and Erosion-Resistance/Hardness/Toughness of the dried coating is much higher for the Hardcoat than for the other coatings. Essentially, there is a tradeoff of increased hardness/toughness for decreased nonwetting performance. Nonetheless, the BN Hardcoat performs quite well with molten nonferrous metals.
