TBBC-CE is a high-emissivity (black body) water-based, somewhat acidic (like lemon juice) coating which is based on Cerium Oxide. TBBC-CE can be easily applied like housepaint to all ceramic and metal bodies including porous and fibrous structures with no special rigidizing required. The coating is particularly 'forgiving' on ceramic substrates, whereas for metal surfaces, a very-thin [as thin as possible/practical] coating on a completely-cleaned surface should be used in order to prevent peeling/spallation.
After drying and on heating, TBBC-CE forms a tough and chemical-resistant coating is formed, having excellent black body emissivity -- "Normal Total Emittance of over 0.9 when the temperature exceeds 1100 C and to over 1600 C, in all atmospheres and for all substrates ... whether dense, porous, or fibrous.
Coatings of CeO2 can be readily applied (like housepaint) to refractory surfaces such as
• Kilns • Ovens • Burner Blocks • Fireboxes • Radiant Tubes
• All types of furnaces ˆ brick, blanket, board, or fiber-lined • Castables
to improve performance by
• Providing temperature uniformity and even heating
• Extending refractory life by reducing hotspots & fluxing
• Increasing production with faster heatups and cooldowns
• Saving energy with more efficient throughput
• Reducing surface dusting/spalling
