Gel-P Binder
The Gel-P Binder is a water-alcohol-based binder liquid that uniquely produces high hardness coatings (on heating to its 350 C curing temperature for around five minutes) with relatively high water resistance, while also having a uniquely high ability to suspend solids (can suspend relatively high-density powders). The binder typically produces medium viscosity coatings with most materials. With a pH of 2-3, careful consideration should be used concerning whether the powder to be used is stable in an acidic medium. Other properties – specific gravity of 1.37; 70% volatiles on heating to 600 C outgassing temperature [water and carbon oxides are the outgassing species]; long shelf life [>12 months]. Based on a sol gel suspension agent/binder, 30% aluminum oxide, 30% silicon oxide, 40% phosphorus oxide results for the high-temperature binding. The Gel-P Binder can be used in all use-atmospheres to 1500 C..
